CONTRL
Syntax and Service Message
D4What is the CONTRL message used for?
- The CONTRL page serves as an instant reference for systems analysts, developers, and EDI operations teams.
- It brings together the message business role, associated segment breakdown, and a live example in one place.
- Highly valuable during trading partner onboarding, mapping verification, incident triage, and technical training.
The CONTRL message is a syntactic acknowledgement: the recipient confirms receipt of the interchange and indicates any syntax errors. It is the lowest-level, automated acknowledgement in EDIFACT communication.
Important: CONTRL only checks syntactic correctness, not business content.
